Researchers estimate that recent abortion bans have driven a rise in infant death rates in affected states, especially among Black children and kids with congenital anomalies.

Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health researchers analyzed the effects of abortion bans in the U.S., identifying increases in both birth rates and infant mortality in states that implemented complete or six-week abortion bans.

Two studies found that infant mortality and births increased in most states with abortion bans after the Dobbs ruling.
