The National Hurricane Center is now tracking the newly formed Tropical Storm Fernand in the Atlantic, as well as another system.

Fernand is moving northward at about 12 mph and should move across the open waters of the subtropical central Atlantic, NHC says. Some strengthening is forecast, and it is expected to reach near-hurricane strength by Monday. Weakening is expected to begin on Tuesday, and the system poses no threat to Florida.
