While Citizens Insurance policyholders may be getting a break on their policy, others are watching to see how it will impact their bills.

Insurance regulators spent more than seven months considering the 14% average rate hike proposed for homeowners covered by state-owned Citizens Property Insurance Corp. and ultimately voted thumbs down.

Most customers of state-run Citizens Property insurance Corp. in Broward and Miami-Dade counties will see substantial rate decreases this year, Gov. Ron DeSantis announced Wednesday. DeSantis said that Citizens will “very soon” announce that 52% of Broward County homeowners will see average decreases of 4.
