It seems as if for weeks now, the world has been waiting for an imminent hostage exchange and ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas or an imminent invasion by the IDF of Gaza City (after multiple prior invasions).

It was Netanyahu's first response to a temporary ceasefire proposal put forward by Egypt and Qatar that Hamas accepted.

IDF officials estimate fighting in Gaza may continue for several months, with the military preparing by sending call-ups to some 60,000 reservists earlier this week. The IDF is preparing for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to go through with plans to invade and occupy Gaza City,
