Eight government watchdogs have sued over their mass firing that removed oversight of President Donald Trump’s new administration. The lawsuit filed Wednesday asks a judge to declare the firings unlawful and restore the inspectors general to their positions at the agencies.

Doctors had sued over the removal and modification of data in response to order to scrub references to “gender ideology.”

A judge halted NIH funding cuts that California and Democratic-run states say could harm life-saving medical research work at UC, Cal State and other universities. The suit said the cuts violated federal law.

The states argue that the cuts would halt research into treatments and cures for diseases, infectious diseases and addiction.
