NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero decribes how surprised he would be to see the Minnesota Vikings go after quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

J.J. McCarthy might have won the Minnesota Vikings' QB1 job before taking his first regular-season NFL snap. The NFL Network's Tom Pelissero said in a Thursday appearance on the Dan Patrick Show that the Vikings are more likely to pursue a backup than first-string competition for McCarthy this offseason.

It was a short stint for Daniel Jones in Minnesota. Jones, who was added to the Vikings' practice squad in November after his release from the Giants, is planning to sign with the Colts, according to a report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero.

The Minnesota Vikings lost QB1 Sam Darnold in free agency to the Seattle Seahawks. Then on Tuesday, Daniel Jones left for a potential starting opportunity with the Indianapolis Colts. That leaves just JJ McCarthy and Brett Rypien as the only quarterbacks left on the roster,
