A key voice in the Trump administration is looking to weaponize the impeachment process against federal judges who disagree with the administration, taking political advantage of a rarely used tool intended only for ‘high crimes.

US District Judge Leo Sorokin granted the request by attorneys generals from Massachusetts and 17 other states.

A multi-state effort, including California, to block President Donald Trump’s executive order ending the constitutional right of birthright citizenship won a victory Thursday, when a federal judge in Massachusetts issued a preliminary injunction barring the order from going into effect until the legal challenge is resolved.
