Trump, after playing golf with Clemens over the weekend, made his pitch for why the 63-year-old former baseball star deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. Clemens' statistically stellar career was marred by speculation that he used performance-enhancing drugs.

Clemens was named in 2007's explosive Mitchell Report, accused of being injected with a steroid multiple times during the peak of his career. Clemens has routinely denied the accusations and was in 2010 indicted of making false statements to Congress, but in 2012 the former Astros star was found not guilty of perjury.
