Mercy Chefs has opened a Beacon of Hope kitchen in Black Mountain that will operate at least through the summer.

Black Mountain Police Chief Steve Parker said both property and violent crime rates decreased in the town in 2024.

Most people probably wouldn't imagine heading to Kentucky. However, the state's highest point, the peak of Black Mountain, is over 4,000 feet above sea level and relatively easy for hikers to reach.
