CDC declares 'Level 3' emergency response to hantavirus outbreak
The Atlanta-based Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has classified the hantavirus outbreak as a Level 3 emergency, which is the agency’s lowest level.
WHO Acting Director of the Department of Epidemic and Pandemic Threat Management, Dr. Maria Van Kerkhove, on Saturday (May 9) said the agency will begin a large choreographed and protected operation to repatriate passengers on board the Hantavirus-stricken ship,
British passengers and staff on the cruise ship hit by a hantavirus outbreak will be taken to a hospital in northwest England for an initial isolation period once they are repatriated, UK health authorities said on Saturday.
As of Friday, the WHO said there are still eight cases: five people confirmed to have hantavirus and three others were suspected of contracting it.
