On the 60th anniversary of the Canadian red-and-white Maple Leaf flag, some Prince Edward Islanders say the tense relationship between Canada and the U.S. has inspired them to put their national pride on display.

Canadian flags were seen flying in the Village of Steveston on Saturday, the 60th anniversary of the launching of the maple leaf-emblazoned national symbol.

The red and white has been a symbol of national pride for many decades, and in the wake of Donald Trump's anti-Canadian rhetoric, a sense of patriotism is sweeping the country.
