Nigel Farage sensationally quit as MP for Clacton today and vowed to fight a "people versus establishment" by-election amid a row over his finances. Speaking at Reform UK headquarters, he said standards investigations by the parliamentary authorities are “now being used as a political tool” as he insisted he has "done nothing wrong" and has not "broken the law in any way at all.
Reform's Lee Anderson has moved the writ in the Commons, with the by-election likely to happen on 13 August.
