Diesel gas prices have risen to a historic high of over $6 per gallon on average nationwide, according to the latest report by GasBuddy.

Five diesel pumps in California have run out of digits. The dispensers are showing $9.999 a gallon, the highest figure their hardware can display, according to a September 10, 2026 post from GasBuddy head of petroleum analysis Patrick De Haan,
