The government is still shut down, but the Senate will return today, Monday, Nov. 10, 2025 on procedural votes to reopen the government, teeing up the end of the shutdown as early as later this week.

Donald Trump on Thursday signed a bill ending the longest government shutdown in the history of the United States, 43 days that paralysed Washington and left hundreds of thousands of workers unpaid.

The government shutdown has affected thousands of federal workers, some of whom have been working for the past six weeks without getting paid, while most of them have been fired and even furloughed.
