Severe weather is expected to bring subzero temperatures the northern Plains as soon as Thursday, then reach the Mississippi Valley, the Northeast and the Ohio Valley by Sunday.

Storm on the move: Snow and dangerous ice is falling in the south-central US and spreading east.

Multiple states are in the path of the storm’s ice threat, including Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Georgia, Virginia and the Carolinas.
