President Trump’s plan for new American battleships appears to be going for a “bigger-is-better” mantra — perhaps a nod to the commander-in-chief whose name they will carry. The Trump-class vessels will be the largest surface combatants in the world — and the most heavily armed warships built by the US since World War II,
Speaking from Palm Beach, President Donald Trump said 20 to 25 battleships will be built and become 'the flagships of the American naval fleet.'
The new Trump-class ships will be able to strike targets at 80 times the range current ships can reach, according to the Navy.
The president, who claimed to be a "very aesthetic person," said he would join the U.S. Navy in designing the vessels named after him.
