President Donald Trump is heading to Miami on Wednesday — the anniversary of his reelection to a second term — to speak to a forum of business leaders and global athletes about what he sees as his economic achievements.

Trump took a victory lap in Miami on the one-year anniversary of his 2024 election victory Wednesday, but his speech at a business-focused conference in downtown was shadowed by another anniversary: the crossing of the threshold to the longest government shutdown in U.S. history.

The president rehashed 2024 campaign themes — including musing about transgender weightlifters and resurrecting nicknames for political rivals.

Historian Dr. Marvin Dunn continued fighting against a contentious land transfer for President Donald Trump’s future library, in Overtown, a few blocks away from where the president headlined a business forum downtown.

Trump will fly into Miami International Airport around noon and then make his way to the Kaseya Center, where the two-day leadership summit will be held. Trump is scheduled to speak at 1 p.m. before heading back to MIA. Air Force One is expected to depart for a return trip to Washington at 2:40 p.m.
