Jessica Pegula is off to a winning start at the ATX Open in Austin after Arantxa Rus retired midway through the second set of their first-round clash. In the fourth game, the top-seeded American converted the first break point of the match and then just held on to her serve for the rest of the first set to clinch the opener with a 6-3 scoreline.

Top-seeded Jessica Pegula never faced a break point while cruising to a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Nuria Parrizas-Diaz of Spain on Wednesday in the second round of the ATX Open at Austin, Texas. Pegula won 90 percent of her first-serve points (18 of 20) while dispatching Parrizas-Diaz.

There are four interesting WTA Austin quarterfinals for fans to enjoy. Pre-tournament favorite Jessica Pegula will try to take another step closer to the title against Anna Blinkova.
