Four people were killed and one severely injured when their cable car plunged into a ravine in Italy on Thursday, local authorities said.

Four people died and one suffered life-threatening injuries after a cable car crashed to the ground near Naples in southern Italy on Thursday, mountain rescue services and firefighters said. The accident happened on the cable car service between the town of Castellammare di Stabia and Monte Faito,

A fifth person was in critical condition after the cable car rolled down a mountainside. Nine others were trapped in a different cable car because of the crash and had to be rescued.
