Earlier this offseason, Colts general manager Chris Ballard said the franchise "knew it would be a roller coaster" after drafting Richardson, given his lack of career starts at Florida. That thrill ride continues to go from hill to hill as the Colts approach the start of the 2025 season.

Both Daniel Jones, a former first-round pick of the New York Giants, and Anthony Richardson, the No. 4 overall pick in the 2023 draft, had been splitting reps and alternating starts, and on Tuesday Steichen announced that Jones had won the competition.

Jones, who was released by the Giants last year, is getting another chance to be a starting quarterback with the Colts.
