France summoned the Italian ambassador after Italy's deputy prime minister challenged the French president for suggesting that European soldiers be deployed in Ukraine in a post-war settlement, a French diplomatic source said on Saturday.

France has summoned US ambassador Charles Kushner after he accused President Emmanuel Macron’s government of failing to act against rising antisemitic violence, a charge Paris firmly rejected.

Charles Kushner wrote in an open letter on Sunday to President Emmanuel Macron that the country had not taken “sufficient action” to combat antisemitism.
