Microsoft permanently disabled the Internet Explorer 11 desktop app on certain versions of Windows 10 this Tuesday through a Microsoft Edge update.

Click on Default browser. Under the Internet Explorer compatibility section, toggle the button for the Allow sites to be reloaded in Internet Explorer mode option to enable IE mode on Edge.

"The out-of-support Internet Explorer 11 (IE11) desktop application was permanently disabled on certain versions of Windows 10 on February 14, 2023 through a Microsoft Edge update.

A successor -- Microsoft Edge -- was rolled out last year along with a Windows 10 update. The browser boasts a streamlined user experience that rivals Chrome, Firefox and others.

Internet Explorer already lives on through Microsoft Edge in a “Reload in IE mode” button located in its taskbar to get you accustomed to using the newer browser.
