Bringing showrooms filled with high-end American-made electric vehicles to India would mark a symbolic victory for President Trump’s ally.

Tesla has selected locations for two showrooms in the Indian cities of New Delhi and Mumbai, moving closer to its long-delayed plans to sell its electric cars in the country, sources familiar with the matter said.

The selection of showroom spaces follows a meeting between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Tesla CEO Elon Musk in the US last week.
