Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan reportedly discussed the possibility with President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

Turkey, which has the second-largest army in NATO, has expressed its readiness to send troops as part of peacekeeping forces to Ukraine, Bloomberg reports. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has held talks about this mission with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

Turkey is open to providing security guarantees for Ukraine as part of a final deal with Russia to end the war, the Turkish foreign minister said on Monday during a press briefing with his Russian counterpart.

As discussions about a potential ceasefire in Ukraine gain momentum, Turkey has emerged as a possible contributor to a peacekeeping force. With NATO’s second-largest army after the United States, Turkey’s involvement could play a crucial role in stabilizing the region.

Türkiye could send its military to Ukraine. But Ankara will not participate in any peacekeeping mission unless it is involved in all consultations and preparations for its formation, reports Bloomberg.
