Gov. Ron DeSantis signed off on agreements that several more factions of state-level law enforcement will work hand-in-hand with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to detain and potentially interrogate illegal immigrants.

Ron DeSantis traveled to Homestead Wednesday to highlight agreements with the federal government, now signed by every county sheriff in Florida, allowing deputies to question people about their immigration status while conducting routine police work.

Governor Ron DeSantis has signed three agreements to give state agencies more power to enforce immigration laws.

All sheriff's offices in Florida now have the ability to do street-level enforcement under an agreement with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
