South Korea’s impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol attended a court hearing where investigators were seeking to extend his detention, making a surprise appearance after his arrest earlier this week.

South Korea's impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol attended a court hearing on Saturday to fight a request by investigators to extend his detention on accusations of insurrection.

Yoon, who was impeached and suspended from office in December, is the first sitting South Korean president to be arrested.
