U.S. Justice Department lawyers say a Tufts University doctoral student from Turkey who was detained by immigration authorities had been moved to Vermont by the time a federal judge ordered that she be kept in Massachusetts.

The student, Rumeysa Ozturk, was detained by ICE agents in Massachusetts, driven to Vermont and flown to a detention center in Louisiana, where the government was trying to argue her court case.

A federal judge in Vermont will consider a request for ICE to release Tufts University student Rumeysa Ozturk on bail while her case is resolved in court. This came after a judge ruled her case could be moved from Boston to the state of Vermont.
