Europe alone cannot shoulder the financial strain of supporting Ukraine against the ongoing Russian invasion, Hungarian leader Viktor Orban said. He warned that closely-allied President-elect Donald Trump will likely steer Washington out of the conflict.

European Union leaders are trying to work out whether they can keep the Ukrainian war effort going if Donald Trump decides to shut off support from the US.

Trump has insisted he could make a deal to swiftly end the conflict, which will be nearly three years old when he takes office on January 20, 2025.
