Officials in India say more than 40 construction workers are missing after an avalanche hit their camp in Uttarakhand state.

Border Roads Organisation were rescued from the debris of an avalanche that hit Uttarakhand, while 8 are yet to be retrieved.

Rescue operations are underway in northern India where 22 workers are trapped after an avalanche struck a construction camp near the Tibet border in Chamoli. Efforts are being made to safely evacuate the trapped workers amid improving weather conditions.
