Netflix broke its principles to share 'KPop Demon Hunters' on the big screen, but don't expect the streamer to make a habit of it, says Peter Debruge.

“KPop Demon Hunters” fever is gripping New York, with the stars of the wildly popular animated Netflix film lighting up the Empire State Building on Friday. The movie, which premiered on Netflix in June, quickly became a blockbuster hit around the world, with the streaming giant now releasing a sing-along version in Big Apple theaters this weekend.

The animated movie, already a hit on streaming, will screen to sell-out crowds in theaters for special sing-along showings. But Netflix won't release box office numbers.
