Members of the West Virginia National Guard arrived in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday on orders from Gov. Patrick Morrisey to support President Donald Trump’s “Making D.C. Safe and Beautiful Task Force.”

Vice President JD Vance touted the progress National Guard troops have made tackling crime in Washington the past nine days — and suggested that their mission may extend past 30 days.

The president has repeatedly complained about rising crime in DC, but overall crime numbers are lower this year than in 2024.
