Franz Schubert was born on 31st January 1797. During his short lifetime, he composed a huge body of work, including over 600 lieder, almost as many piano compositions, seven completed symphonies and many chamber works. He was remarkably prolific, writing over 1,500 works in his short career, including orchestral overtures, symphonies, chamber works and, of course, over 600 lieder.
